Summit Circle Hotel in Cebu City

It has always been a winning solution.

This is the reason why I've been dying to get away.

I was right.

A trip can take all the gloomy days away and bring back some ray of sunshine back into my life.

I'm so happy and even if I obviously have gained a few pounds from all that (lechon) eating, I don't care. Frannywanny is finally BACK and I have Cebu to thank for it. *big grin*

I've always been so in love with Cebu that despite being there a number of times, every trip still brings a lot of new discoveries and adventure that I always come home happy, rejuvenated and wishing that I can go back soon. Well, I will but not in a few months so the countdown starts now.

that's my colleague Dottie!! :)

Anyway, for this trip, Summit Circle Hotel was our home for three whole days. It is adjacent to Robinsons Place Fuente and is located right at the heart of Fuente Circle. This is a good hotel option should you want to watch the Sinulog Festival in Cebu every January as the procession will definitely pass by in front of the hotel. The only thing you have to take note of when staying at Summit Circle Hotel during the peak season is the intense traffic as all the main activities will be done there. However, if you’re like us who goes to Cebu on regular, non-peak days, this would be a good option as you’ll definitely save time and money from the commute.

The hotel is just 10 minutes away from Ayala Cebu Mall, about 20 minutes away from SM Cebu and there are restaurants, convenient stores, banks, a drug store within walking distance. My favorite Shamrock store where I always drop by to buy some Otap and Chicharon is also within the Fuente Circle too.

As mentioned, the hotel is adjacent to a mall but do not expect much from this as ML and I were able to roam around the 3-storey mall in less than 10 minutes. It was that empty and quite unappealing for city shoppers like us. There are fast food chains there so it would be good should you want to take a quick bite but since you’re in Cebu, I highly recommend that you venture out a little more and try the numerous restaurants that make Cebu a truly good destination for foodies like you and me.

We divided our group into 5 and each pair got a Deluxe Twin (est. Php. 2,200) room. Since I’ve stayed at various hotels before, I was really ready for a teeny-tiny room given the very affordable rate. I was surprised that our room was very spacious that there was even a couch and a small table on one side.

Our companions were upgraded to a triple sharing room where the only difference is the addition of another bed. For me, I prefer the couch over the extra bed since it was just me and ML sharing the room for this trip.

The TV wasn’t flat screen but there was Sky Cable connected to it. We hardly watched TV though as we both prefered to make use of the free WiFi connection while browsing the internet using our iPhones. The internet connection wasn’t the best though but it served its purpose so who am I to complain. It would be bad though for a business traveler who would probably rely heavily on a good and steady connection to make his calls via Skype or to check his mails. I hope the hotel would improve on their internet connection.

Our bathroom was spacious too. I liked the rain shower head and the fact that the curtain kept the floor dry even after a long warm bath. I just wish they have installed a bidet by the toilet for hygiene purposes. This is one thing I wish ALL hotels would take note of. Come on, guys! :)

After checking in, I had some time to roam around the hotel before leaving for my meeting. There’s C2 Classic Cuisine at the ground floor where we had our buffet breakfast for the next two days.

Breakfast was okay as I liked the garlic/fried rice, the sweet mango juice and the star of my breakfast plate – the crunchy danggit. I love danggit very much and I happily had this for two consecutive days. The set-up was easy to navigate around and there were a lot of servers ready to assist you too.

The only thing that I didn’t like was the egg station. On my 2nd day, I stood there waiting for the chef to prepare me a scrambled egg sadly the chef was no where to be found. The server just told me to get an omelet which looked like it had been sitting on the chafing dish for hours already. Nonetheless, I got a small piece as a good breakfast is not complete without egg.

The hotel has a pool but it's quite small. A lot have commented that it's a kiddie pool and well, it surely can pass as one as it's only 4 feet high and was very very narrow. It's perfect to just lounge around but not for those who intend to do laps training here.

Over-all, we enjoyed our stay at Summit Circle Hotel as it was a good place to retire in after a busy day outside. Both ML and I slept soundly for the two nights that we were there and I would definitely consider this again on my next trip to Cebu.

Summit Circle Hotel is located at Fuente Osmena street, Cebu City, Cebu. Call them at +63-32-2393000. Visit their website here. They have ongoing promotions that would offer discounts for longer stays and for those flying in via Cebu Pacific too.
