Weekend Staycation at Shangri-la Hotel Singapore's Valley Wing

"He was enjoying that pleasant mingling of physical ease and mental alertness which seemed to him, of all sensations, the most truly civilised. So far, the appointments of Shangri-La had been all that he could have wished --certainly more than he could ever have expected." - from the book The Lost Horizon
To celebrate our 4th Wedding Anniversary, Paul and I were treated to a really nice weekend staycation at Shangri-la Hotel's Valley Wing here in Singapore. We're truly so thankful to our sweet friends from Shangri-la who made our anniversary weekend nothing less than PERFECT. It was indeed a very relaxing weekend as we didn't even bother going out of the hotel throughout our stay. There was really no reason to as everything we wanted can be found right within reach and our goal is to relax and to indulge through and through.

From the moment we stepped inside the very exclusive and posh lobby of the Valley Wing, we both knew that this will be a weekend to remember. While we have stayed at Shangri-la Hotel before, having our room booked at the Valley Wing is a new experience for us. Among the 3 wings of the hotel, this is where most of the dignitaries, presidents, prime ministers and even celebrities would choose to stay in. Even President Obama and our very own PNoy have walked across the lobby and down the halls of this wing. In fact, the Valley Wing has an exclusive lift which gives their VIP guests the chance to go up to their floor quickly without being seen.

Now, let me take you to our room -- welcome to our 57sqm Deluxe Room (S$530++). I really love how the room was designed to be. Every corner speaks of luxury and exquisite taste. I seriously made mental notes on certain things as this is how I envision our future room and t&b to be.

Take a peek inside our bathroom, it's so specious! We love that it had two sinks so we can brush our teeth and wash our faces at the same time. We were also given a complete set of toiletries and a lot of towels. For once, I didn't have to call the housekeeping department to ask for more as we actually have a lot regardless if we want to shower 3 times a day. Hehe :)

We were also supplied with travel-sized bottles of L'occitane shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bath gel. The bath gel in particular smelled so nice! It has a lemony scent with a light hint of ginger. I was so happy using it throughout our stay.

They also prepared a nice kit for any other "uh oh I left my _______________" needs. This is why I love Shangri-la. They're always a step ahead in making sure their guests won't have any inconvenience at all. This kit is complete with an L'occitane lip balm, cooling wipes, hand lotion and believe it or not, a pair of pantyhose and cloth hair band too! Amazing!

We also liked the fact that they installed a small TV by the tub. Perfect for those who would like to relax while watching a movie or catching up with their favorite show like *ahem* my dear hubby.

Going back to our bedroom, we noticed that our room came with a Nespresso machine. This made me remember my friend Leslie who's a big coffee fan and who just loves Nespresso (right, Les?) I tried a cup of Cosi one morning and liked the light and citrusy notes. It was quite mild though so it's definitely not the wake-me-up-all-day kind of blend. Maybe the Volluto, which is said to be stronger, could do the trick.

Yes, those are towel swans on our bed
As for our bed, I just had to say that it was one of most comfortable king size beds that we've slept on. As Paul woke up yesterday morning, he told me that maybe we should get a king size bed. No more fighting over the space and we can each roll around whichever way we want. The pillows were just right -- not too firm, not too soft. Both of us indeed slept like babies for the two nights that we were there.

Our room also has a nice study area where I quickly set-up my laptop on making it my mini blogging station. It even has a fax machine too!

Check out the stationary set, how thoughtful of them to print our names on it. I happily wrote my family a note which will be on its way to Manila by tomorrow. :)

The Deluxe Room also has a sofa set where they placed this delicious Chocolate Mousse for us to enjoy. It was very chocolatey rich which we happily indulged on the night of our anniversary. We also loved the box of truffle too! Thank you for being so thoughtful, Shangri-la.

Staying at the Valley Wing not only gives you the best, Shangri-la-signature service but you can also have complimentary drinks from the mini bar and at the Champagne Bar by the lobby. While drinks are complimentary and available all day, there's also high tea from 2PM - 5PM and hot snacks were served from 5PM - 7PM. Paul and I are no alcoholic drinkers so we were happy with our fruit juices and a bowl of mixed nuts. Yum!

There was also a harpist who played a mix of modern and classical songs. She even played the ever-famous "Let it Go" from the movie, Frozen for the younger diners too.

As soon as we had our snack and drinks at the Champagne Bar, we headed up and were surprised to see that they have cleaned our room in preparation for bedtime. Look at how our duvet was folded, our slippers neatly placed by the bedside and they even left a pretty bookmark and a box of chocolate too. This was their turn down service and I really love the extra touch.

Aside from the Deluxe Room, I was able to visit the Deluxe Suite which is a bit bigger than our room as there's really a whole room for the living area. This is perfect for businessmen who would like to hold meetings or to entertain guests in their room. Somehow, it gives them the privacy to keep their bedroom away from their guests and to just host their meetings or social functions in a separate room.

The bathroom looks exactly like ours though except for the Bvlgari toiletries instead of our L'occitane set. :)

That was a quick tour around our room at the Valley Wing. With our beautiful room alone, guess you can see why we opted to just stay in the hotel for all 3 days. I actually felt a bit sad when we had to check out as it marked the end of our wonderful staycation. Wish this could last forever. *heartbreak*
