Novotel Kuala Lumpur
One thing that I really take great pains in preparing for when traveling is our hotel accommodation. I really make it a point to research well to make sure that we will be staying in a comfortable room and at a hotel that's accessible to the spots that we will be visiting to also lessen our transportation cost.
Thanks to Paul's cousin who was able to cut my research time in half by recommending Novotel KL, I immediately visited their official website and I actually liked what I saw.
This was where we stayed for 5 lovely nights at Kuala Lumpur.
Entering our room, I immediately noticed the view from our window, it was the Petronas Towers and since we arrived late in the afternoon, the twin towers were beautifully lit up and the sight was just marvelous.
Our bed was very comfortable too and I love it that we have a small couch where Paul and I would hang out while enjoying the view of the Twin Towers.
However, unlike our hotel accommodation in Singapore, our package here does not include breakfast which was fine as we enjoyed trying the various restaurants at the Pavilion Mall which was just a bridgeway away.
The hotel is complete with an outdoor pool, a gym, spa and a couple of restaurants which we unfortunately were not able to check out.
Of running water and non-stop drilling...
I guess we were spoiled by our Singapore hotel accomodation that we expected a lot also here in Kuala Lumpur. While the cleanliness of our room has passed with flying colors, there were less items available in our room. Just the bare minimum like hand soap, shampoo/conditioner and lotion. There were two rolls of tissue paper every day and a laundry bag. We missed the free toothbrush set or slippers that we get from Singapore. Then again, the lack of these items does not really matter as we went prepared with our own toiletries.
One thing that I didn't like about our room was the constant sound of flushing water. Initially I thought the walls might just be too thin that we can here the bathroom activities of our next room neighbor. Either that or we might actually have a ghost in our room. For extra caution, Paul went out of our room to inspect and came back saying that there must be a huge water pipe installed near our room thus the sound of rushing water. It can be pretty distracting especially late at night. It's a good thing though, the sound stops around 1 in the morning...
...and just when we thought we can finally have a long relaxing sleep, we were once again awaken at 8 in the morning with non-stop drilling from the construction site beside the hotel.
While we were on our honeymoon thus we did not let these things ruin our trip, I guess this can really be a problem for travelers who are just looking for a place where they can retire after a long day of exploring the city.
We love Novotel KL for its proximity to the shopping district, the Petronas Twin Towers and to most tourist spots that we had intended to visit. This is perfect for a brief visit in KL without the stress and hassle. Perhaps be sure to request for a room away from their water pipe and one that's the farthest away from their next door construction site.
