Papa John's Pizza in Greenhills
A much-awaited meet-up with my dear friend Sab brought us to Papa John's Pizza one late afternoon. Papa John's Pizza has been around since last year and I actually saw a couple of branches in California during my visit last February. In fact, one of my cousins once worked for Papa John's when he was still residing in the US.
Paul and I arrived a few minutes before Sab did and I ordered the Waffle Fries (Php. 90) to ensure that we have something to munch on as there's lots to catch up on the moment Sab arrives. It came piping hot and crunchy. I enjoyed dipping it into their special marinara sauce which gave the fries a totally different taste versus the usual shoestring kind with tomato catsup. Sab, the ever demure friend of mine, carefully pick one piece up after the other as she updated us about her busy life as a hands-on Mommy to our cute flower girl Sophie and our handsome godson Brandon on top of running a growing business with her husband Brian. Amazing huh?!
We decided to share a pizza and pasta dish. Luckily, we all love the no-frills Hawaiian pizza (Php. 420) topped with sweet ham, pineapples and lots of mozzarella cheese. We got a medium sized 12" pizza which was just right for the 3 of us. Expect that you'll have to allot around 15 minutes waiting time for the pizza as we found out that they prepare it upon receiving an order. This ensure the freshness of the crust and ingredients which makes for a delicious pizza!
Sab began raving about the special sauce that comes with the pizza and urged me to try it as soon as it was served on our table. I took a careful bite and instantly my mouth was filled with rich butter and lemon flavor that surprisingly went well with our pizza. While I am pretty much aware of the fat and cholesterol content of this killer sauce, I can't stop dipping my pizza crust into the saucer as it can be pretty addicting. I consumed three slices of pizza and polished off my saucer and even sneaking extra dips into Paul's almost full saucer. Sab and I enjoyed the sauce and I can't help but crave for more whenever I think about it.
Sab and I love pasta and we're both white-sauce pasta fans at that. Much to Paul's delight, we got a tomato-based pasta to try something different that day. Our choice was the Penne Marinara (Php. 190) which is loaded with shrimps, squid and garlic simmered in their special marinara sauce. Yum! I enjoyed the flavorful pasta that was not too tangy at all. Sab made a great decision in choosing the penne over spaghetti noodles as it's more fun munching on penne pasta instead of twirling long spaghetti strands.
I had a lovely time bonding with Sab and Paul while enjoying our pizza and pasta meal at Papa John's Pizza. I loved it so much that I even ordered a box of Fisherman's Catch (Seafood) Pizza to bring home for my family to enjoy. I can't wait to go back and to try more pizza flavors with their delicious butter sauce. Yum!
