Dining Out : Father's Day 2012

On June 17, 2012 -- the world celebrates Father's Day. Similar to Mother's Day, my family also makes it a point to go out on this day dedicated to my dad, kongkong and uncles. I've received a number of text messages and emails from friends asking for recommendations on where they can take their dads and husbands out on this special day.

Here are some of my recommendations, majority of which are my Dad and Paul's personal favorites too:

For Dads who take his MEAT seriously....

1) Elbert's Steak Room
  For me, Elbert's is truly the king of all steak places. Whenever someone would ask me where to have the best steak, I'd always say Elbert's in a heartbeat. I'll never forget the night when Paul and I shared a huge Ribeye steak complete with all the sidings, the delicious Fantan bread and desserts to cap our delicious meal off.

2) Myron's Place

Here's another go-to place whenever we crave for steak. Myron's President's Steak is good for 4 and it comes with steak rice too. I highly recommend for you to also try the Creamed Spinach as well!

3) 'Cue Modern Barbecue

My newest discovery! How can you say no to the Bone Marrow and Steak Tacos? It's sinful yet oh, so good! This Sunday, try also their Baby Back Ribs. It's big enough to be shared by the entire family (of at most 6).

4) 22 Prime


Father's Day is the perfect day to treat Dad like a KING! Check out 22 Prime at Discovery Suites and they have a wide-array for steak choices and sidings for you! I was able to try the gigantic Tomahawk Steak which is the biggest rib-eye steak that I've ever seen. Despite its big size, the meat has remained tender and really delicious. I also love the bread basket and homemade dips that comes with it.

5) Marriott Cafe Sunday Brunch 

Paul and I had the luxury to try a couple of hotel buffets around town and Marriott Cafe ranks one of our favorite spots when it comes to its quality dishes and the novelty of having a Chocolate Room. Every Sunday, they also open up CRU, the hotel's signature steak restaurant where diners can enjoy grilled meats and foie gras too! There's a martini bar and a wide selection of cold cuts, seafood, Asian dishes and more!

Marriott Café Sunday Brunch is available every Sunday, 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM. For inquiries or reservations, call 988-9999. This is located at 10 Newport Boulevard, Newport City Complex, Pasay City. The hotel is located across the Ninoy Aquino International Airport 3.

6) Dusit Thani Family Crossover Buffet

At times, it can truly be a challenge to find a place that will please everyone's taste buds. Dad loves Japanese while Mom wants Thai, Ate may be craving for Italian while Bunso simply wants a wide-array for delicious desserts. Well, in Dusit Thani, you'll surely enjoy visiting all four food establishments namely Umu, Basix, Benjarong and Tosca. I love the teppanyaki choices at Umu, the authentic Thai dishes of Benjarong, the Molten Lava Cake of Tosca and the lechon in Basix. Kids will be entertained by the men in stilts while the adults are busy restaurant hopping.
