Chez Karine Bakery at Serendra, Bonifacio Global City
After having lunch at an Italian restaurant within the Bonifacio Global City, Paul together with our regular food buddies Richard and Irene trooped to Serendra simply to give in to my request to try Chez Karine out.
It has been a month since I've heard about this new bakery that recently opened at the Serendra Mall called Chez Karine. Not long after, fellow bloggers have been writing about it making me more and more excited to give it a try myself. It's located beside my go-to cupcake place Sonja's and from the outside I already liked the pretty decors, the clean and bright feel perfectly accented with small cute decors. Inside I was mesmerized with the beautiful pastries! This reminds me of the cute bakeries the Paul and I love visiting in countries like Hong Kong and Taiwan.
First off, I ordered a box of French Macarons (Php. 50/piece). They have a take-away box perfect for 7 pieces which allowed me to order one flavor each as Chez Karine exactly has seven different macaron flavors available -- Strawberry, Lemon, Pistachio, Milk Chocolate Passion Fruit, Earl Grey, Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate. Don't you just love how colorful my box of macarons is? I happily tried each and every flavor out and...
the Salted Caramel was hands down the top winner followed by the Earl Grey and Lemon. I found the Strawberry and Pistachio a bit lacking in flavor while the Chocolate variants were just a-ok. Next time my box will definitely be filled with my top 3 favorite flavors.
Together with the French Macarons, we also tried the Chocolate Royal Pudding (Php. 100). I know, you might think it's a bit too expensive for a tiny bottle but hey you gotta pay for the whole package! Flavor, presentation and the works. I let my chocoholic hubby tried this first and at first bite, he gave me a thumbs-up sign. Wow! It must be really good!
I immediately grabbed a spoon to try it too and totally agreed with him. I love the milky, smooth chocolate pudding with a thin layer of caramel syrup at the bottom. This is definitely a winner! I can't wait to try the other pudding flavors as well as the fruity Mango or Strawberry Panna Cotta (Php. 100) too.
I'm glad that we now have pretty bakeries where we can spend our afternoon bonding with friends and loved ones. I can't wait to go back to Chez Karine Bakery with my family together with Scottie too as pets are allowed in Serendra!
The price is quite high but believe me it's worth a try. :) Wrapped in pretty colorfully illustrated boxes, Chez Karine's products make perfect gifts too!
