Relish, Hello Happiness in Tomas Morato

It's the new year and I'm busy listing down my resolutions.

Obviously, one resolution that never goes away is "to be fit and healthy". I'm happy though that I've actually took my first step last 2013 when Paul and I began a healthier diet and have been hitting the gym more than once. We intend to continue this good habit for the entire year, this year.

Anyway, Paul and I just came back from our amazing 12 Days of Christmas in Manila and we had a great time bonding with our dear family and friends. These 12 days, I must say, we've allowed ourselves to indulge in all the yummy food that Manila has to offer and yes, there were no regrets whatsoever.

Right on the 1st day of our visit, we met up with our friends E and soon-to-wed C and K. C suggested that we try Relish in Quezon City and I was all for it as it was definitely something new to me. Parking was quite challenging as Relish shares the same lot as Cerchio, another restaurant. It's a good thing we were able to secure a slot nearby. Next time, we'll go a little bit earlier.

Relish has a very dainty and homey vibe. It's so pretty actually that it makes it a perfect place for intimate dates, lunch out with the ladies or Sunday family gatherings. Our dinner began with a plate of soup. Paul and I shared this Roasted Pumpkin Soup (Php. 175) which was just a-ok. I found it to be a bit too watery and lacking in flavor. Nothing still beats the delicious Cream of Pumpkin/Squash Soup that we always get somewhere else.

As for the main entrees, we couldn't decide whether to have two or three slices of the Slow Roasted Grilled Beef Belly with Au Jus Gravy (Php. 495/Php. 550). This seems to be their house specialty as most of the table had this too. We then opted to just go for two and order another entree to share. I love how fork tender the beef belly was. My only gripe was that the fat was just too thick for me. I had to remove all of it away before I could finally enjoy it. The mashed potato was really yummy too.

Our second entree was the Chimichuri Chicken Kebab with Aoili (Php. 375). One plate gives you two long skewers of tender chicken chunks marinated in their special chimichuri sauce and served with their homemade aoili sauce. I also love the rice pilaf that came with it. While the beef belly was definitely succulent, I think what would make me go back for more would be the Chicken Kebab. It's light and tasty, just the way I'd imagine my Mommy will like it.

Wanting to stay more to catch up, we ordered some dessert and coffee. We tried the Cookie Dough Cheesecake (Php.180) which C liked very much. For me though, I think I'll skip dessert at Relish and will just head to Cafe Breton for some yummy crepes just down the road.

We had a great time at Relish thanks to the great company that we have. Now I know why it was quite a challenge to reserve for a table as you get good food at very reasonable price. I highly recommend for you to call to reserve before going.

Relish, Hello Happiness is located at 74 Sct Limbaga street, Quezon City. Call them at 352-5492 / 0926-6959885.

Drive directions:  Drive down Tomas Morato, once you see Conggo Grille to your left, turn left. You'll see Relish at your left beside Cerchio.
