Sunday Brunch Date at District 10 Bar & Restaurant

So what's a normal Sunday for Paul and I?

Waking up later than usual, slowly moving around the house as we do our weekend chores, cooking and enjoying a nice home-cooked meal, further lazing by the pool and heading out later in the afternoon to hear mass. Basically, Sunday mornings are non-existent in our lives as we'd use these precious hours catching up on lost sleep incurred during the weekday.

While we love this relaxing routine, we also do love to do things spontaneously once in a while. This is perhaps the reason why getting an invite to have a nice Sunday brunch got us up and out of the house right before noon. After all, a good and delicious weekend brunch is indeed a perfect motivation for us to wake up early and to head out just to satisfy our growling tummies. This was what happened when we visited District 10 Bar & Restaurant at Star Vista one Sunday.

I've heard of District 10 but I didn't know that they're open for brunch as most of my friends would head there after work for drinks. Well, the Star Vista one has a nice al fresco section with a small kiddie playground perfect for families to hang out in where the adults relax and enjoy the food while the kids go and play. Paul and I didn't mind that we were dining outdoors as the weather was cooperative that day, a bit windy and cool -- just the way we like it.

The brunch menu is pretty simple with 6 Breakfast Favourites to choose from and a couple of side dishes too. The first dish that we tasted was the District 10 Eggs Benedict (S$16). Perfectly poached eggs on toasted muffin served with sauteed spinach, smoked salmon and their homemade Hollandaise sauce. I really love Eggs Benedict (or Eggs Ben) whenever I have brunch. This was pretty good but sadly the muffin hardened up I guess due to it sitting on the table a wee bit too long as Paul and I had to take a million shots of this beauty before finally digging in. Oops! Nonetheless, I enjoyed the freshness of the salmon, the delicious runny egg and the creamy Hollandaise sauce.

We also tried the Spanish Omelette (S$14) which was a surprise discovery. I have to admit that I wasn't expecting much from an omelette but this one was so delicious and was indeed my favorite dish that morning. I couldn't stop raving how full of flavor it was. Give me a plate of garlic rice and a saucer of ketchup and that would make me a very very happy girl. Stuffed with bell pepper, chorizo and mushrooms, this is every egg lover's dream come true.

Aside from their brunch menu, District 10 is mighty proud of their tapas and pizza. So, we just had to try the Pizza Margarita with Tomato and Buffalo Mozzarella (S$19). The serving was very generous -- perhaps something 4 people can share. Well, it was just me and Paul that morning so imagine how full we were after. I love the creamy Buffalo Mozzarella which perked up the rather mild taste of tomatoes and herbs on the pizza.

Lastly, our brunch ended with the Pandan Coconut Pancake (S$9) which is very unique. It was my first time to have gula melaka flavored pancakes and while it was good, I just found the pancake to be a bit tough and the flavor didn't immediate kicked in on the first bite. There's a big room for improvement for this.

This is the beauty of being married. Having someone game enough to do spontaneous things with and no matter what it is, the discoveries and adventures are just priceless. ♥
