Pistachio Cake with Strawberries and Cream by Sweet Grace

Last weekend, Paul and I did another ninja-like visit to Manila which lasted for only 4 days. The main objective was to spend as much time possible with family. I'd say, we were pretty successful as most of the meals were really dedicated to eating out with both my side and his. In addition to that, we went home to celebrate the birthday of one very important man in our lives -- my Papa.

Despite how infrequent we get to fly home, we make it a point not to miss the birthdays of our parents. We sadly missed my FIL's birthday this year so we have to do better starting next year onwards. Anyway, to celebrate Papa's birthday, K of Sweet Grace Cakes & Pastries was so sweet to send over a box of her famous Pistachio Cake with Strawberries and Cream (Php. 800 / 6 inch and Php. 1500 / 8 inch). 

The cake arrived a day before his birthday so we had an early cake-cutting ceremony as we couldn't wait to try it. Even Papa was so happy when we opened his cake box to reveal such a gorgeous creation inside. We all love anything with Strawberries and Pistachio so this one was obviously a big hit.

Take a closer look at the cake, the thin slices of strawberries and a generous amount of crushed pistachio were enough to make our mouths water. Yes, I'm not a fan of those white icing, but that's fine, I just scraped it all out and happily ate the yummy, a bit crumbly, pistachio-flavored cake inside.  I have to admit though that I would have enjoyed it even more if the cake was more moist or spongey as the current consistency easily filled up my tummy.

This three layered cake is filled with sweet strawberry jam too! We had the 8 inch cake and I have to say that one slice is quite filling that we were only able to consume 1/4th of the cake on our first round. This also means there were a lot that we got to share even with my in laws and grandparents too.

Checking Sweet Grace's Facebook page, I found out that they also offer cupcakes in 12 different flavors as well as cheesecakes and cookies too!

As a parent, I have one thing that I dread the most and that's when any of my kids fall sick. Bag of Beans (Charito) in Tagaytay

I can't believe that we have been frequenting Tagaytay for more than a decade now and not once have I written about Bag of Beans ! I tried searching all over this blog and I found..nothing. To think that not a single trip to Tagaytay, back then, would ever be complete without stopping by Bag of Beans for lunch or merienda. Misto at Seda Vertis North

Happy Friday!  I'm not going to lie, Friday is one of my favorite days because it means, we're just a day away from the weekend! Who doesn't love the weekend, right? This is the day when I give my twins my uninterrupted attention. We would start the day with any breakfast of their choice (normally waffles for J, pancakes or peanut butter sandwich for L) followed by an hour of doing their homework and in the afternoon, we head out for their swim class! Sunday is more laid back as we would stay home and just laze around the house otherwise, we would go and visit my in laws and spend the day there.  Speaking of the weekend, I suddenly remembered one of the best weekends that we've had this year so far. This was when we had our staycation at Seda Vertis North  and the twins truly enjoyed every minute of it.
