Back at Novotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
When we were sort of planning for our weekend trip to Kuala Lumpur, I'm glad that we had cousin J with us as he took care not only of booking our flights, but he went ahead and handled the booking of our hotel and he even rented a car too! He was so organized that I swear, this was the only trip where I happily tagged along without minding that we didn't had any proper itinerary and I know that we will still have a great time. Cousin J is the best travel companion, I tell you.
So, when I casually asked him where we're staying in KL, he told me that he booked us all at Novotel Kuala Lumpur. Yay! If you remember, four year ago, this was also where Paul and I stayed for our honeymoon and save for the drilling and mysterious water sound, we loved the hotel's close proximity to the major shopping malls and the beautiful view of the Petronas Towers too.
I'm not sure if the hotel has underwent some renovations but our room now seemed bigger than what we had before. It was very spacious with the comfy bed and once again, the nice couch by the window. Sadly though, the view of the Petronas disappeared and was replaced by a modern-looking residential condominium which was probably the reason for the construction sounds back then.
Even the bathroom looked bigger than how it was before. Either the hotel did some changes or we got an upgrade this time. I also remembered that we were only given the basic toiletries and none of the fancy stuff like extra slippers or toothbrush sets. This time, it was complete with shampoo, conditioner, lotion and even some cotton buds. There were a lot of towels and you can ask for more should you decide to take a bath twice in a day given that the weather can be so warm and humid. I also don't recall seeing the bidet spray which I think was a cool and much more hygienic addition.
Every room also has a mini bar complete with an electric kettle and complimentary water, coffee and tea which gets replenished daily.
Our room was adjacent to our cousins' room which was a Junior Suite. It's almost double the size of our room as it has a separate living area where we'd hang out during the day and a private bedroom which was really big and spacious. I also love that their room has a Nespresso machine with refillable capsules! Woohoo! :)
We got to KL a bit late already but that didn't stopped Paul and I to wake up earlier than the group the following day. The reason? We were starving and can't wait for breakfast. Initially we thought that we were to have breakfast at the Executive Lounge as told by the front desk officer. Unfortunately (or fortunately, I'd say), we were wrong so I just took a quick photo and checked out the lounge before heading down to the hotel's restaurant -- The Square.
The Square offers both Asian and International breakfast buffet selections such as a wide-array for breads and pastries, an egg station, Chinese congee, Nasi Lemak and more! We had our breakfast here for the two days that we were in the hotel and I have to say that it was pretty decent and good. I particularly loved the Asian dishes as well as the selection of yogurt and fruits. I'm glad we ended up eating here though as there were obviously more dishes as compared to the lounge.

Of course, the winning factor of the hotel is its location. It's right across my favorite mall -- Pavilion and major streets such as Bukit Bintang and Jalan Alor are just 5 to 8 minutes walk away. KLCC is accessible via an air-conditioned walkway too.
