Asian BBQ at Grand Park City Hall, Singapore

Fire up the grill!

Those four words are music to my ears. I just love BBQs as it's really simple to cook and even to prepare yet the rewards of enjoying freshly-grilled cuts of meats is truly heavenly. Not to mention the aroma that hits your nose while it's cooking. There's also no hard and fast rules when it comes to BBQ-ing. Basically, you can grill any type of meat, have any kind of rub that you prefer and just make sure it doesn't turn out toasted or charred. This is the perfect way to get cooking especially for amateur cooks. If you ask me, I love BBQ'd seafood and beef. Give me a slice of tender steak and a mountain of grilled scallops, prawns, fish and squid and I'm one happy camper.

So, when Paul and I were invited to be part of the Asian BBQ dinner at Grand Park City Hall, we immediately said YES! Similar to the Afternoon Tunch, there are a couple of similar local dishes such as the Kueh Pai Ti, Satay, the Laksa, an assortment of hand-rolled makis, fresh seafood and salad.

Other than that, the star of the night can be found at the garden patio where the BBQ station was located. The drill is to fill up your plates with raw meats and seafood. There's quite a good selection available so either you take one of each or you choose your favorites. I love scallops and salmon so I made sure to get more of that.

Meat-lovers will rejoice over a mix of Lamb, Beef, Pork or Chicken! I got the US Beef Flat Rib which was so yummy.

After getting your meats and seafood, you season them using these bottles of rubs found at the side.

As soon as your down, hand your plate/s to the man behind the grill and wait for the magic to happen.

You might need to head back to your table and they'll deliver your freshly grilled food to you right after as this is the only BBQ station catering to the entire restaurant. That was fine though as I happily tried the other dishes available in the buffet line-up.

Scallops with Tom Yum Butter
I can't remember how many I had of this that evening but I pretty much have filled up my plate with the empty scallop shells afterwards.

Tandoori Grilled Tiger Prawns
I love prawns in general however, this one was a bit too over-cooked for me. How'd I know?! The meat was stubbornly sticking to the shell.

Mini Burgers
I don't know why but I was really craving for burger that day. This one has successfully satisfied my craving! Yummy :)

Grilled Pineapple
Another delicious discovery! I was a bit hesitant to try it but who would have thought that injecting a bit of smokey flavor into the sweet pineapple can taste so good.

It was such a fun night indulging on the yummiest bbq'd meats and seafood! This is, by far, one of my favorite hotel buffets in Singapore. Luckily, I have till September 27, 2015 to enjoy this. Shall we go back for Paul's birthday? :)
