Back at Tuan Tuan Chinese Brasserie in SM Megamall

Now back to one of my Manila food adventures!

As Paul had to fly back to Singapore earlier for work, I stayed behind a few more days to spend more time with family. So, on my FIL a.k.a. Daddy's actual birthday, we went out for a nice family dinner to celebrate his special day. Luckily, we also managed to do a grander birthday party a few days in advance just so the entire family's complete. The initial plan was to try a new restaurant in the Kapitolyo area but it started to drizzle and with most restaurants fully booked, we decided to just head to the mall.

Mommy then suggested we dine at Tuan Tuan Chinese Brasserie. I've been there once and I loved it. Well, guess what?! It has been one of my in-law's favorite places to dine in too! Remember, when in doubt...go Chinese!

It was quite late already so everyone was feeling hungry. That said, we surely ordered a LOT! One thing that I love about my MIL is the fact that she loves to eat and try new things as much as I do. So every single thing she pointed out on the menu, I just can't help but nod and smile as I was also eyeing those as well. Most of these are new menu items making it really wow!

First of, we started with a couple of new dishes such as the XO Radish Cake. To be honest, from where I'm from, this is pretty normal and it's available in all dimsum restaurants all over Singapore. People here love radish cake (carrot cake) and we enjoy it steamed, stir-fried or wok-fried. Either way, it's good! I'd say, Tuan Tuan did a great job in creating their version of the XO Radish Cake. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the XO sauce gives a good savory punch to the over-all flavor.

Next was the House Special Wings which I personally felt was just a-okay. I guess, I was expecting something more spectacular on my first bite but it was simply a deep-fried chicken wing. You can actually skip this.

The next on the list is an old-time favorite! Tuan Tuan's famous House Special Trio (Php. 398). If you remembered in my previous entry, I commented that it was really good and I'll definitely be back for more. Well, I kept my promise! It was still very delicious and my favorite was the creamy white part with lots of seafood underneath.

We also tried the Salt and Pepper Squid which was pretty good too. I love the creamy lemon aioli that came with it. Just this and the House Special Trio and that, my friends, would be my ideal meal in Tuan Tuan.

Of course, we also got the signature Crispy Barbecued Pork Snow Buns (Php. 128/3pcs) and the birthday man had his usual noodle soup order too.

I hope Tuan Tuan would continue to expand and open up more branches outside a mall but with lots of parking. I don't mind visiting this every time I'm in Manila.

Visit Tuan Tuan Chinese Brasserie at the 3rd floor, SM Megamall Fashion Hall, J. Vargas Avenue, Mandaluyong City. Call them at 632-7483.
