Airport Lounge : dnata Lounge at Changi Airport Terminal 1
It's no big secret how much I love to travel and to fly home to Manila. However, the only thing that I just dislike is the wait that you normally have to endure at least 2 hours before your flight plus the countless hours you have to bear in the plane too. Good if you're taking a premium-class airline that offers in-flight entertainment, even better if they got WiFi internet and of course, good food. However, what if you're flying budget? I've been flying so often for past 3 years that I know all the travel routines by heart. Luckily, I was able to gain access to a wide network of airport lounges all over the world and I have to say that this has really changed my perspective about flying and most of all, waiting.
I really appreciate being able to grab a bite or even a drink while doing last minute work on my laptop in a more comfortable environment. Gone are the days when I would have to go hunt for a Starbucks Coffee or any airport cafe with an empty table for me to hang out in for the next hour or so. Finally, I found a good reason for me to make sure that I get to the airport early and I sometimes would even get excited about it. Take my recent trip back to Manila for the holiday. I've been stressing so much about work and I told Paul that I have to continue working as soon as we get past immigration. He led me to the new dnata Lounge in Changi Airport Terminal 1 which I have to say is one of the nicest lounges that I've been to date.
Let me take you on a tour:
This lounge has perfectly found the balance between work and leisure. There are a lot of comfy couches lined up in rows in one side...
....and they got these tall working stations complete with plugs and USB ports too.
Of course, working can make you hungry so there's a nice buffet spread featuring some local specialties and western classics too.
My favorite was the Hainanese Chicken Rice which I filled my plate with. After all, I'll be away for two weeks so I'll definitely miss this.
Even these deep-fried finger food are amazing! I had a plate full of Fish Goujon which was so yummy.
They also got 3 different types of sandwiches for those who wants it light. We normally would get one each to take to the plane just in case we get hungry again during the flight. I loved the Marinated Mushroom & Tomato in Foccacia. It was a vegetarian sandwich but a very tasty one, in fact.
Lastly, they also have two drink station to cater to your needs. From non-alcoholic to coffee and tea and of course to beers and wines too.
I have to say that this is my newest favorite here at Changi Airport. I love the food and drinks choices as well as the availability of seats and couches. My only request is for them to have some massage or sleeping chairs perhaps?
One more thing, they also have one of the best shower and toilet facilities that I've been too as well. For a minute there, I actually thought of taking a shower to really check it out. Oh, how I wish I'll get to fly out of Terminal 1 more often from now on.
